Tuesday, July 18th

Today, I went to the Korean restaurant that I usually go to.  I found a notice on the board that said: “We will not be doing lunch anymore”.  I was very disappointed to see that.  I loved this restaurant because they had good food and the waitress always gave me extra Kimchi.  She was always nice to me and we often talked.  Maybe, she talked to me because I was the only customer.

I only have 30~40 minutes for lunch and my choices to have lunch are limited so the Korean restaurant was really good for me. It was close and affordable.  On top of that, they had good food and service.  That’s why I was so disappointed when I found out they would close for lunch.    I wish there was some way they could keep the store open.

Wednesday, July 19th

I have a chance to hear many stories from students. Recently, I heard a story about a student who sent a summer gift (お中元) to her friend.  The next day, she got a summer gift from that same friend.   When she looked at the gift, it was the same gift that she sent her.  At first, she thought that the gift was returned.  But it turned out that her friend sent the same gift on the same day.  Wow!  What a coincidence.  My student was a little embarrassed though because the gift she sent was a little cheaper than the one that she sent her.  This story kind of made me laugh.

It’s hard to keep your weight.  I lost nearly 3~4kg when I fasted last September.  Since then, I have been able to keep my weight about the same.  My student recommended me to fast and he helped me do it last September.  I did it for 3 days.  The process was a pain in the neck but I feel it was definitely worth it.  I promised myself to do it every September.  September is now less than 2 months away and I’m thinking about doing it again.

Saturday, July 22nd

Saturdays can be sometimes be very busy for me.  This week it was.  I had 2 classes in the morning and right after that I had to have a party for my day time class.  We went to an Izakaya near our school.  It’s actually an annual event.  We have 2 parties every year, one in summer and another in winter.  Usually 30 to 40 students get together and we chat, drink, eat, and play games.  This time I changed the game a little.   We made 5 teams and competed against each other.  The wining team got a prize.  The last part was for each team to sing one short lyric of Michael Jackson.  It goes like this, “Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat. No one wants to be defeated” Some teams did really well but other teams made us laugh.  We had a great time!
