句動詞の基本 パート 1

句動詞が目的語を取る場合

句動詞の目的語の位置に気をつけましょう。二箇所可能な場所があります。

句動詞全体の直後と動詞の直後の二つの可能性があります。

I put on my jacket.

I put my jacket on.

しかし、代名詞が目的語を取る場合、動詞の直後にしか生じません。

I put it on.

＊目的語を取らない句動詞もあるので気をつけましょう。

句動詞フレーズ

put on ⇄ take off

put on は日本語にすると複数の訳し方があります。

服などを「身につける」、

靴などを「履く」、

帽子などを「かぶる」、

「化粧をする」、

薬などを「塗る」です。

take offはその反対の意味になります。

put on a watch.

(時計を身につける。)

put on shoes.

(靴を履く。)

put on a hat.

(帽子をかぶる。)

put on make up.

(化粧をする。)

put on ointment.

(薬を塗る。)

get on ⇄ get off

get on は「乗る」という意味で、get off は「降りる」という意味です。

交通機関の「乗り、降り」はこれで表現します。

しかし、車やタクシーに関しては “get in / get out” を用います。

*目的語が句動詞全体の直後にしかきません。

get on the (train / subway / bus)

((電車、地下鉄、バス)に乗る)

get on the elevator.

(エレベーターに乗る)

get in a car.

(車に乗る)

put in ⇄ take out

take outは「出す」。

put inは「入れる」。

put away 「片付ける・しまう」もよく使う句動詞です。

take out the trash.

(ゴミを出す。)

put in the card.

(カードを入れる。)

put away the dishes.

(皿を片付ける。)

pick up ⇄ drop off

pick up 「拾う、迎えに行く」。

drop offは「出す・降ろす」

pick up my sister.

(妹を迎えに行く。)

drop off my father.

(お父さんを送る。)

turn on ⇄ turn off

turn on はスイッチや電源などを「つける」。

turn offは「消す」

turn on the TV.

(テレビをつける。)

turn off the air con.

(エアコンを消す。)

leave on はスイッチや電源などを「付けっ放し」という意味です。

leave on the air con 24 hours.

(エアコンを24時間つけっぱなしにする。)

hand in ⇄ hand out

hand in は「提出する」hand out は「配る」

hand in the sign up sheet.

(登録用紙を提出する。)

hand out the schedule.

(スケジュールを提出する。)

他の句動詞

throw away 「捨てる」

throw away books.

(本を捨てる。)

try on 「試着する」

try on new clothes.

(新しい服を試着する。)

fill (in/out) 「記入」

fill in a form.

(用紙に記入する。)

wake up 「起きる」

wake up my son.

(息子を起こす。)

check out 「見に行く」

check out a new store.

(新しい店を見に行く。)

hang out 「乾かす」「遊びに行く」

hang out the laundry.

(洗濯物を乾かす。)

hang out with my friends.

(友達と遊びに行く。) *目的語が句動詞全体の直後にしかきません。

目的語を取らない句動詞

eat out 「外食する」

eat out at a new restaurant.

(新しいレストランで外食する。)

go out 「外出する・遊びに行く」

go out with friends.

(友達と外出する。)

(walk / shop / drive) around 「歩き回る・いろいろな場所に買い物に行く・ドライブに行く」

walk around the city.

(街を歩き回る。)

shop around for presents.

(プレゼントのためにいろいろな場所に買い物に行く。)

drive around town.

(町をドライブする。)

句動詞の練習

日本語を見た瞬間、英語が口から出てくる様になるまで繰り返し練習をしてみましょう。

●句動詞を使い文を完成させましょう。

1. 今朝重いジャケットを着た。

2. 家に着いたらジャケットを脱いだ。

3. エレベーターには決して乗らない。

4. 久屋大通駅で降りる。

5. 夫がゴミを出す。

6. 私はかばんに辞書を入れる。

7. 息子はおもちゃを片付けない。

8. 夫が駅で降ろしてくれる。

9. ドライクリーニングを取りにここに来た。

10. 家に着くとテレビをつける。

11. いつもテレビをつけっぱなしにしている。

12. ベッドに入る前にエアコンを消す。

13. 登録用紙を提出した。

14. スケジュールを配ってくれませんか？

15. 古い服を全部捨てた。

16. これを試着してもいいですか？
