Saturday, November 12th. “Typhoon Hagibis”
Right now it is 15:30 on Saturday November 12th. I’m usually at school teaching class but I’ve cancelled class because one of the stronges typhoon is about to hit. In Japan tyhoons are named by numbers. This one is Typhoon #19. The Western medias are calling it Typhoon Hagibis.
Here are some phrases that the English medias are using.
make landfall – 上陸する
record breaking rain and wind – 記録的な雨と風
Japan Meteorlogical Agency – 気象庁
Heavy rain and downpours – 大雨 と 豪雨
dump rain – 激しい雨を降らせる
officials – 当局
gusts – 突風
issue emergency warning – 警報を出す
floods – 洪水
landslide – 土砂崩れ
evacauation – 避難
