関係代名詞使ったを主語　

英語の勉強し初めの時はSVOを使って表現することが多いです。

I don’t like my house because it’s too old.  (自分の家が嫌いです。何故ならば、古いからです。) 

この表現には何にも問題はありません。

しかし、文をより強調する方法があります。

それは主語の後にthat節を付けて主語の説明を加え、

be動詞の後にくる事を強調させる方法です。

The thing [(that) I don’t like about my house is it it’s too old.

(自分の家の嫌いな事は、古い事です。)

The thing の後に [(that) I don’t like about my house] がthat節でthe thingを説明しています。

ここでthatは省く事が可能です。

そして、強調したい内容 “it’s too old” がBe動詞の後に来ます。

このような形で主語としてよく用いるのはthe thing, the place, the way, the reason, the time です。

これらの言葉はWh (what, where, when, why, how)の名詞です。

つまり、状況、場所、方法、理由、時間を文の中で強調したいとき使うととても便利です。

The thing

The thing I like about my house is it’s big.

(自分の家の好きな事は、大きい事です。)

The thing I usually do on my days off is to watch TV.

(休みの時に普段している事は、テレビを見る事です。)

The thing I can’t get used to is parking my car.

(慣れる事が出来ない事は、駐車する事です。)

The place

The place I like to go is the country side of Gifu.

(好きな場所は、岐阜の田舎です。)

The place I want to go the most is Cuba.

(いま一番行きたい場所はキューバです。)

The place I’ve never been to is South America.

(いままで行った事がない場所は、南米です。)

The way

The way I get there is by taking the JR.

(私の行き方は、JRに乗って行きます。)

The way I learn English is by writing journals.

(私の英語の勉強方は、日記を書く事です。)

The time

The time I travel is always in Spring.

（私がいつも旅行するのは春です。）

The time I started learning English is when I turned 35.

(私が英語を勉強し初めたのは、３５歳になった時です。)
