One of my favorite movie is called Shawshank Redemption (ショーシャンクの空に).  If you haven’t seen it, I recommend that you see it.  You can see it both on Netflix and Amazon Prime.  It’s a movie about not giving up and always living with hope.  It moved me deeply.  I’m sure you’ll also love it. Check it out.  

My favorite drama is called Breaking Bad and House of Cards.  I’ve recommended Breaking Bad to some students.  Most of the guys love it but the female students don’t like it so much.  I understand why.  Also, House of cards is also really interesting.  I think it’s also a guy drama.  If you see any good movies or dramas, tell me in class.

Wednesday, September 6th

I started listening to NHK Enjoy Simple English on the radio.  I’m trying to find out if the listening will be good for students.  Actually, I think that it’s really good for students because a lot of the phrases and grammar are things we learned in class.  Today, I listened to Rakugo.  The story was not bad but the English level was perfect. 

Some of the stories are really good and some of them are not so interesting.  Even if the stories are not interesting, I think it’s still good for students to listen to it.  Trying to understand the story will help you get used to listening.  

Remember that it’s only 5 minutes so it will not take up much of your time.   I recommend using a timer on your cell phone to remind you.  There are two radio shows.  You can pick the one that’s most convenient for you.

 Friday, September 8th

The weather seems cooler and it’s starting to feel like autumn.  I enjoy this season the best.  The food is good and the autumn leaves are beautiful.  Some students have told me that they are really sleepy these days.  I think it’s due to the cooler weather.  I don’t feel sleepy but I have a problem with my shoulder.  One student said I might have a ghost on my shoulder.   I don’t mind a pretty lady ghost but I can’t stand it if it’s a dirty old man ghost.  

One student gave me a special lotion for putting it on my shoulder.  I just put it on last night and it felt great.  I feel much better this morning.  I really appreciate the student that gave it to me.
