Monday, April 9th “Netflix Addiction”
I haven’t seen Netflix in almost a month now. I think I finally got out of Netflix addiction. To tell you the truth, I watched a little bit of Netflix last night. I gave myself a break last night. However, I hope I’ll never go back to Netflix addiction. With the extra time that I have now, I mostly read books or work. It has been really good for me.
It might sound like I’m contradicting myself but let me tell you about a really good drama I saw on Netflix a month ago. Don’t get me wrong, this is before I completely stopped watching Netflix. The title is called, 「サイテーハイスクール」。The English title is “Everything Sucks”. When I saw this drama, I felt like I was in High School again. The drama takes place in 1996. I actually graduated High School in 1995 so I completely relate to this drama. The music really takes me back to those days. The drama is funny, exciting and bittersweet. Even if you didn’t graduate High School in the 90’s, I’m sure it’ll take you back to your High School days!! Check it out!

Wednesday, April 12th “Kyoto English Tour”
My student told me an interesting information. She and her husband participated in a guided tour in English. The tour is called WaRaiDo Guide and it’s in Kyoto. The walking tour is 5 hours long. They really enjoyed it because they were able to talk to other English speakers from all over the world. They said that the guide was a Japanese person who can speak English well. They were able to understand a lot of what she said. I thought this guide is great for all of my students. I highly recommend this tour.

Sunday, April 15th “Owning a car”
Since I came to Japan, I’ve never owned a car. There’s no point for me to own it because I live in the center of Nagoya. Also, I believe having a car is really expensive. There are many expenses that come with having a car. First of all purchasing a car is pricey. After that, renting a parking space, filling up the gas, getting an insurance, getting an inspection, getting maintenance and paying tax. I see no point in owning a car because I can get anywhere in Nagoya for free on my bicycle. I can also get exercise as I’m going there. There’s no better way.
However, some people might feel that a grown man should have a car. They say it’s about status. A friend of mine owns a really nice Lexus. The car does make him look successful and I’m a little jealous of that. However, I feel that a car does not make a man look successful, it’s the type of car that makes a man look successful. If I drove around in a used compact car, it does not make me look successful at all! Therefore unless I can buy an Audi or Mercedes, there’s no point in getting a car for me. The funny thing is even if I got such an expensive car, it’s so much more convenient to ride my bicycle in Nagoya for me. That makes me feel happy that I don’t own an Audi or Mercedes. 😏 (Those are my dream cars to tell you the truth.)
There’s no point. 「意味がない。」
come with 「付いてくる」
There’s no better way. 「一番いい方法だ。」
unless 「〜でない限り」
