Sunday, May 17th. “Too tired to go home”

From time to time, I feel like going to a public bath.  The closest one from my office is in the Fushimi area.  It’s called the Urban Core.  Surprisingly, they have natural hot spring even though it’s in the middle of the city.  They just renovated it last year and it became much nicer.  When I was there the other day, I found a unique service.  You can stay there overnight on Fridays and Saturdays.  If you are too tired to go home or if you missed the train you can take advantage of this service.  The place where you sleep is pretty nice although you don’t have much privacy.  I highly recommend it.

Wednesday, May 22nd. “A program that’s perfect for students”

In one of my day-time classes, the students were talking about a program they like to watch.  It’s called Cool Japan on NHK.  I feel this program is perfect for all my students.  The reason why is most of the program is in English.  Even when the Japanese people are speaking, there’s a subtitle in English that you can read and study.  The guests are from all around the world.  This is better because you can hear many kinds of English.  I think you’ll find that non-native speaker’s English is easier to understand.  I hope you’ll start watching this program.

Friday, May 24th  “Revitalizing Sakae”

My school is almost right next to the TV tower.   Right now, there’s major construction happening all around it.   This is a plan by Nagoya city to revitalize Sakae.  It’s called the “Grand vision to revitalize Sakae”.   In the last few years, many businesses and foot traffic shifted to Meieki area.  As you all know that the new Linear Chuo Shinkansen will be coming to Nagoya station in 2027.  This has caused a construction rush of Nagoya station area.   Sakae was kind of left behind.    

This new revitalization plan is to make Sakae popular again!!! 😘  I have high expectation for it because I love Sakae a lot more than Meieki. ❤️ I can’t wait to see the new Sakae, especially the Central Park area.
