「かわいい」を英語で表現　cuteとpretty の違い

英語でさまざまな言い方で「かわいい」を表現ができます。

よくpretty が「かわいい」だと思われていますが、これは誤解です。

pretty はどちらかというと「綺麗」に近い言葉です。

単純に「かわいい」はcuteで表現します。

She is pretty. (彼女は綺麗だ。)

She is cute. (彼女はかわいい。)

adorable の意味

Cute以外に様々な言い方があります。よく使われる言葉がadorable です。

adorable は「愛くるしい」とか「可愛すぎる」という意味で赤ちゃんや小さな動物を表現するときに用います。

The little puppy is so adorable. (あの子犬は可愛すぎる)

cute adorable 以外の表現

Cute as a button.  – つぼみのようにかわいい　[小さくてコロコロしたものを表す]

We love it to death. – 死ぬほど好き

Cutest dogs on earth. – 地球上で最もかわいい

Way beyond adorable. – 愛くるしくてたまらない

Absolutely adorable. – 愛くるしすぎる

Little angels. – 小さい天使

awwww – [愛くるしい物を見たときにたてる音]

I’ve always been more of a dog person than a cat person.  I think the reason is dogs are more stupid than cats, which make them cuter.  

Anyway the dog I can’t help watching on YOU TUBE is French Bull Dogs.  They are the cutest dogs on earth.
