「割引き」「安くなる」を英語で表現

「値段が安くなる」を英語で表現するには何通りか言い方があります。

discont

discount は名詞と動詞の使い方があります。

I got a discount on my jacket.  

(ジャケットが割引されました。)

I got a 50% discount.  

(50%の割引をしてもらいました。)

The jacket was discounted.

(ジャケットが安くなりました。)

reduce / lower

reduce と lowerは低くなると言う意味です。動詞と形容詞の使い方があります。

The store (reduced/lowered) the price.  

(店は値段を安くしました。)

The price of the jacket was (reduced/lowered)  

(ジャケットの値段は安くなっていました。)

save

saveは「得をする」と言う意味で用いられます。

動詞として使います。

You can save 5000 yen. 

(5000円安くなりますよ。)

off

offは副詞で「引かれる」と言う意味で用います。

The book was 40% off. 

(本は４割引でした。)

Monday, December 15th.   “Outlet Malls”

Last weekend, I had a chance to go to Nagashima Outlet Mall.  Actually, I usually never go to buy clothes.  Instead, when I buy clothes, I just but it all at once.  In the last couple of years, I’ve been going to an outlet mall because it’s a lot cheaper than anywhere else.  My favorite brands are the Banana Republic and G-Star.  At the Banana Republic, I can usually get 70% off and at G-Star, I can get 50% off.  That’s a huge discount. 

I usually pick out the clothes in less than one hour.  I usually buy 7 items or more at one store.  This really helps me save time and money.  To tell you the truth, I think going to buy clothes often is a waste of time.  I also hate waiting in line more than anything.  That’s why I can never go to theme parks because there’s no way I can wait for 3 hours to get on a ride.  

Anyway, I probably don’t need to do any major shopping in 2020.  I might buy small items here and there but my wardrobe is set for 2020.  I’m glad I got it done.

日記の訳

先週末、長島アウトレットモールに行く機会がありました。実は、私は普段服を買いに行きません。その代わりに服を買うときは、一気に買います。この数年アウトレットモールに行っています。なぜならば、どこよりも安いからです。私の一番好きなブランドはバナナリパブリックとジースターです。バナナリパブリックでは７割安くなり、ジースターでは５割安くなります。とても大きな割引です。

普段1時間以内で服を選んでしまいます。一つの店で7つ以上の服を買います。これが時間とお金を無駄にしない方法です。本当のことを言うと、服をよく買いに行く時間は無駄だと思います。列に並ぶことも大嫌いです。だから、遊園地に行くのは絶対無理です。3時間も乗り物に乗るために待つのはあり得ません。

というわけで、2020年かもう多分大きな買い物をしなくていいでしょう。少しの服を時々買うかもしれませんが2020年の服装は大体決まりました。終わらせて良かったです。
