Friday, December 27th  “Awesome Yakiniku Restaurant”

My friend took me to a Yakiniku restaurant the other day.  We went all the way to Yokaichi.  Once we got off the at Yokaichi station, we walked into a small back alley.  The restaurant was a small shabby place that’s hard to find.  He told me this place has the best Yakiniku in Japan.  

Once we entered the restaurant, we were told to go up the stairs.  Only one person can go up the stairs at one time.  On the second floor, there was a small Tatami room which can fit about 12 people.  It was a bit hard to believe that this place served the best Yakiniku in Japan.  

My friend ordered the tongue, galbi, and some innards.  We started cooking it on a portable gas stove.  The room filled with smoke.  My eyes hurt badly because it was so smokey inside the room.  All of the beef was cut really thick.  I thought it would be hard to chew but when I put it in my mouth, it was the most tender beef I tasted. It also tasted so delicious. It was out of this world!! He was right, it was the best Yakiniku I’ve tasted.  One downside is that once you come out of this place, you smell like Yakiniku from head to toe.  In other words, you smell delicious.  😋

Oh yeah, the restaurant is called Uguisu.

日記の訳

友達が焼肉レストランに連れていってくれました。わざわざ四日市に行きました。四日市駅から降りてから裏の細い道に入って行きました。レストランは小さくて、探し難く、みすぼらしい場所でした。彼いわく日本でもっとも美味しい焼き肉屋さんだと言っていました。

レストンに入ったら、階段を上がって行ってくださいと言われました。一人しか登れない階段でした。２階には12人ぐらいが入れる小さな部屋がありました。この場所は日本でもっとも美味しい焼き肉屋さんとは少し信じ難かったです。

友達はタン、カルビ、ホルモンを注文しました。ガスコンロで焼き始めました。部屋は煙で覆われました。あまりにも部屋が煙だらけなので目が痛くなるほどでした。全部のお肉はとても厚く切ってありました。とても噛むのに大変だと思ってみれば、口に入れたら今まで食べた中でもっとも柔らかいお肉でした。味も最高でした。驚きました!! 彼は本当の事を言っていました。一番最高の焼肉でした。一つ悪いことは、ここから出てきたら足のつま先から頭のてっぺんまで焼肉の匂いになります。つまり、美味しい匂いがするということです。

日本で英会話を学ぶことは、英語圏で英語を学ぶことと全く違います。つまり、学習の仕方が全く違ってきます。日本では英語を話す機会はあまりありません。それでも、英語が流暢に話せるようになった人は沢山います。話せるようになった人の共通点は必ず英語を口に出して練習しています。話す相手がいなくても一人で練習することによって十分な英語練習になります。人と話すよりも一人で練習を繰り返した方がより効率的な場合もあります。
